Algerian Qatari Steel exported 320,000 tons of its products during the first quarter of the current year, 2023

The Algerian Qatari Steel Company exported 320,000 tons of its products (Rebar, wire rod, and Billet) during the first quarter of the current year 2023, amounting to approximately $200 million, to various global markets.

The company's export activities have significantly developed during the current year, enabling it to reach four continents despite the short period since receiving all the plant units. In the previous year 2022, “AQS” exported 240,000 tons, equivalent to approximately $160 million.

With these achieved figures, the Algerian Qatari Steel Company has secured an important position in the steel industry, aligning with the Algerian state's strategy to reduce imports, increase export value, and diversify income sources outside the hydrocarbon sector. Thus, “AQS” reaffirms its commitment to becoming a regional and international player in the field of iron and steel manufacturing.

On another note, during the visit of the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Mr. Yassine Merabi, to the Algerian Qatari Steel complex in Bellara yesterday, Tuesday, a framework agreement was signed between the Company and the Directorate of Vocational Training and Education for Jijel. The agreement aims to update and prepare a training map in line with local and national development programs and meet the demands of economic institutions for qualified labor.
