AQS exports wire rod for the first time
This week, AQS exported 3,000 tons of wire rod to Italy. This marks the first time the Bellara complex has exported wire rod to foreign markets. Wire rod is used in the construction sector, manufacturing small metal pieces, and fencing materials.
Previously, Algerian Qatari Steel initiated its first export operations towards foreign markets in late April, comprising 17,000 tons of billet.
Products from the Algerian Qatari Steel Company have recently witnessed significant demand in international markets due to their adherence to the highest quality standards. Every product manufactured at the Bellara complex, whether rebar, wire rod, billet, or reduced iron, meets global specifications.
The export of wire rod to Italy is part of the export plan outlined by the General Directorate of the Algerian Qatari Steel Company.
AQS has set a target of exporting over 300,000 tons of steel manufactured at the Bellara complex to global markets during the current year 2021.
It is worth noting that the Bellara Iron and Steel Complex commenced full production this year following the commissioning of all its units. These include the direct reduction unit with a production capacity of 2.5 million tons annually, the smelting units with a capacity of 2.2 million tons annually, and the rolling units with a capacity of 2 million tons annually.
