Algerian Qatari Steel Awarded CARES-Certified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
Jijel, Algeria – April 27, 2025
Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) is proud to announce that it has been awarded
an independently verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) by the
UK-based CARES certification body. This verification was carried out in
full compliance with EN 15804:2012+A2:2019 and ISO 14025:2010
standards.
The certified EPDs cover steel reinforcing bars and steel wire
rod manufactured at AQS’s Bellara plant in Jijel, Algeria, using the Direct
Reduced Iron (DRI) route via electric arc furnace technology.
This milestone confirms AQS’s strong commitment to environmental
sustainability. The EPDs assess the full life cycle of the products—from raw
materials through production and end-of-life recycling—demonstrating reduced
environmental impacts in line with global benchmarks. It also enhances AQS’s
competitive edge in global markets that require compliance with rigorous
environmental standards.
