On February 27, 2024, Mr. Youssef Ahmed Al-Mohannadi, Board Member and General Manager of Algerian Qatari Steel, stated in an interview with the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the company achieved a turnover of around $1.2 billion in 2023.
Production reached approximately 1.7 million tons of finished products, including more than 700,000 tons exported to 30 countries worldwide, with a total export value exceeding $423 million.
Phase II expansion of Bellara complex
The CEO announced that the company is preparing to launch the second phase of expansion of the Bellara steel complex, following feasibility studies. This expansion will double production capacity from 2 to 4 million tons per year, while introducing new steel products to meet domestic demand and expand international exports beyond hydrocarbons.

According to Mr. Al-Mohannadi, the company’s success and international presence are the result of an integrated strategy covering production, management, and marketing, enabling access to highly demanding global markets. The long-term strategy focuses on strengthening international competitiveness and enhancing Algeria’s export capabilities.
Bellara industrial complex
Established in 2013 as part of an Algerian-Qatari partnership, Algerian Qatari Steel is owned 51% by the Algerian side and 49% by Qatar Steel International.
Located in the Bellara industrial zone (Jijel province), the complex spans 216 hectares. The first production units began operation in 2017, and full completion was achieved by the end of 2021. The site includes ten industrial units and a direct connection to the port of Jijel for logistics and exports.

In 2023, the company obtained multiple international certifications, strengthening its access to European and global steel markets. It is also certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
