Algerian Qatari Steel Tests Its Safety System Through a Complex Industrial Incident Simulation
As part of the implementation of its 2023 annual intervention and simulation program, Algerian Qatari Steel conducted internal drill No. 03/2023 on October 3, 2023, at the Direct Reduction Unit, under the supervision of the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Directorate.
The simulation scenario was based on the discovery of two victims during an inspection operation: the first suffering from oxygen deficiency-related asphyxiation, and the second sustaining an arm fracture following a fall on the stairs.
Conducted under conditions closely replicating real industrial environments, the exercise aimed to assess team responsiveness, the effectiveness of emergency response procedures, and the level of coordination among all stakeholders, while strengthening operational readiness in high-risk environments.
This drill reflects Algerian Qatari Steel’s ongoing commitment to fostering a strong safety culture and aligning its practices with the highest international standards in prevention and workplace safety.
