The lime unit of Algerian Qatari Steel produces high-quality quicklime and dolomite, with an annual production capacity of up to 280,000 tons, meeting the requirements of various industrial operations.
Both quicklime and dolomite are widely used in steel refining processes, particularly in the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), where lime plays a key role in removing impurities such as phosphorus, sulfur, and silica, as well as small amounts of manganese.
They also contribute to adjusting the chemical composition of steel and reducing oxygen content, thereby minimizing slag inclusions and enhancing the quality of the final product.
