Working Visit of Mr. Ali Aoun, Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, to Algerian Qatari Steel
As part of the State’s commitment to major industrial projects, the Minister of Industry, Mr. Ali Aoun, conducted a working and inspection visit to the Bellara Steel Complex, accompanied by senior officials including the Governor of Jijel, the President of the Wilaya People’s Assembly, and the CEO of the SIDER Group.
Far from being a routine visit, this mission delivered clear and strategic messages regarding the importance of this industrial hub. It began with presentations by the CEO of Algerian Qatari Steel, Mr. Yousef Ahmed Al-Mohannadi, and the Deputy General Manager, Mr. Sofiane Chaib Setti, highlighting the company’s performance, industrial momentum, and forward-looking vision.
In a firm statement, the Minister praised the level achieved by the company and reaffirmed his full support for this flagship project, which benefits from continuous attention at the highest levels of the State. He also called for accelerating the implementation of Phase II, a key lever to strengthen production capacity and reinforce the complex’s role as a major contributor to meeting national demand, in line with the highest standards of quality and competitiveness.
The Minister further expressed his satisfaction with the rapid development of the complex, describing it as a successful industrial model and a tangible symbol of Algerian-Qatari cooperation, built on a shared vision and long-term ambition.
For his part, the CEO emphasized that the company is moving steadily toward leadership in both local and international markets, driven by three strategic pillars: advanced technology, competitiveness, and global openness.
The Deputy General Manager presented the progress of the expansion project (Phase II), now at an advanced stage, which will increase production capacity to 4 million tons per year—marking a decisive step in positioning the complex among leading players in the steel industry.
The visit concluded with a tour of the production units, showcasing the complex’s industrial and technological advancement and reinforcing a clear reality: Bellara is not just an industrial site… it is a cornerstone of the future of steel in Algeria.
